Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  What are our hours?
A:  Phone hours:  M-F 9-1, 2-5 (The office will be closed between the hours of 1pm and 2pm daily)
     Audiology hours:  M-F 9-5 (The Audiology staff will be unavailable daily between 1 and 2pm)

   Please call the office for Dr. Bianchi's and Dr. Waltzman's availability.
 

Q:  How long has Dr. Bianchi been in practice?
A:  Since 1996, after completing medical school and residency at Yale.

Q: How long has Dr. Waltzman been in practice?  A: Since 2004.

Q:  Do you see pediatrics in addition to adults and geriatrics?
A:  Yes.  We evaluate and treat patients of all ages, and have a large population of children at our practice. 

Q:  Do you have any other offices?
A:  In addition to the office we have on 965 White Plains Road in Trumbull, we have a satellite office at 755 Campbell Avenue, West Haven, and a new office in Stratford at 2524 Main Street.

Q:  What hospitals are you affiliated with?
A:  Bridgeport hospital, St. Vincent's hospital, Health South, Yale New Haven Hospital and St. Raphael's.

Q:  What kind of insurance do we take?
A:  We accept most major and private insurances.  However, please call our office to be sure.

Q:  What is my co-pay?
A:  Refer to your card.  If there are various co-pays listed, we are a specialist      group.  If there is none listed, call your insurance carrier to check.

Q:  If I am a new patient, what should I expect?
A:  Arrive 15-20 minutes early to complete your paperwork, bring all insurance cards, bring referrals, bring a form of payment for co-pays (cash, checks, or credit cards).

Q:  Does my insurance cover the office visit and in-office testing?
A:  Most insurances will.  However, call your insurance carrier if there is any doubt.

Q:  Do I need a referral from my primary physician?
A:  Some insurance companies require this and some do not.  You should call the number on the back of the insurance card to inquire about this.

Q:  Do I need to schedule an appointment to see my primary physician before seeing the ENT doctor?
A:  Some insurance companies require this and some do not.  You should call the number on the back of the insurance card to inquire about this.

Q:  If I am having surgery, am I responsible for any of the cost?
A:  Some insurance companies pay 100%, some do not.  Call your insurance carrier to be certain.


Q:  What should I expect from a certain surgery?
A:  Each individual is different and should call our office and speak to our surgery coordinator for specific details.

Q:  What is the difference between an audiologist and a hearing aid specialist/dealer?
A:  An audiologist has a master's degree and is licensed to conduct thorough tests for accurate diagnoses, and dispense hearing aids.

Q:  Do I need a hearing test to get hearing aids?
A:  Yes.  Your hearing needs to be testing within six months of the dispensing of the hearing aids.

Q:  Does insurance cover hearing aids?
A:  Medicare does not.  Hearing aid benefits through other insurances are rare, but are possible.  Call your insurance carrier to check for benefit eligibility.
